Body-con dresses for the win

My love for Body-con dresses is undying. You all know that I’ve been wearing Maxi Dresses all through my pregnancy. Who would have thought that body-cons would look great in the third trimester? Not me, until I tried on this Blue Cold Shoulder Bell Sleeve Fitted Dress from Pink Blush.

This dress is so versatile. It can be worn before, during, and after pregnancy. The fabric stretches to fit your curves, but is thick enough to retain it’s form. I can’t wait to put up after pregnancy pictures in this dress. I usually wear size Small in maternity clothes, but for this particular dress, I’m wearing a medium. I would size up for this dress.

If you read my posts from early second trimester here, you’ll see how I never imagined of wearing fitted dresses during my pregnancy. When I first saw this dress, I wasn’t sure how comfortable I would be in it. All my opinions changed as soon as I tried the dress on! It looked beautiful, and it made me love my bump (not a little bump anymore!).

I cannot stop talking about Pink Blush! It’s been my go-to brand for all things maternity!

What this pregnancy has taught me?

I have learnt to be more accepting about my body and embrace my new curves. Initially, I used to stress about every lb I gained, but as I reached my third trimester, I realized that the best way to sail through pregnancy is to eat healthy and eat right. I stopped monitoring my weight, and I eat when I’m hungry. I can even eat a whole small pizza all by myself now (this is a big achievement for me since I ate very limited portion sizes). As long as my doctor says I’m on the right track, I don’t stress myself out about weight gain.

Third Trimester Food Habits

During my second trimester, I felt hungry all the time. I ate 6-7 small meals a day. As I enter my third trimester, I continue to follow the same diet of breaking my meals into small portions. I follow a vegetarian diet, so making sure I eat sufficient protein is a big task in itself. I eat a cup/ bowl of lentils everyday paired with rice/ roti/ wheat bread. I try to eat three fruits every day. I’ve heard that it’s not a bad idea to eat varied colored fruits, so I try and follow a Rainbow Fruit Palette. Other than that, my biggest craving this trimester has been Ice Cream, especially Vadilal Tutti Frutti Ice Cream (luckily I find these at the Indian store!).

I’m also trying to eat an Iron-rich diet. Lot of vegetarians are iron deficient, and although I’m not taking any iron supplements, I included dates, spinach, and beets into my diet. I try to eat simple sides of these veggies twice or thrice a week.

I’m mostly on track with my diet and I try to stay away from processed sugar as much as possible. I had been following a no processed sugar diet before pregnancy. It’s been really hard to stay away from processed sugar for the last six months though, and I eventually give in to my cravings. It’s not so bad after all to relax and enjoy the food that you eat.
